Introduction	I have forced cakes on people, and I’m not ashamed. If you ask for a pie, I will probably make you a cake (see cake etiquette below). Cakes make me giddy and infinitely happy. There’s something special about a cake’s ability to set the mood and make people smile. Plus, hello, there’s always a beater to be licked, and I can’t think of a more delicious way to subtly fish for comments in a group setting (oh, like you don’t do that too). Cakes are splendid, indeed. Favorite Saying: “One more sequin ruins the dress.” I have no idea who told me this, probably my old figure skating coach, but it stuck with me. Sometimes you just have to stop adding, picking and smoothing and know that the cake, just as it is at this very moment, is “good enough,” that it doesn’t need another thing to be great.
