| Introduction | Heather Monty was twelve years of age when she created H.A.T.S. (Helping Across The Seas). Heather was always a creative child who had a passion for sewing and at a young age learned to read patterns and sew quilts. After finding a pattern for hats, Heather used her babysitting earnings to buy fleece and quickly began sewing. When she realized that she had made too many hats, she decided to donate them to the Goffstown, NH Bartlett Elementary School through the school nurse, Mrs. LaRoche. The positive feedback she received motivated her to continue donating, and thus H.A.T.S.'s first donation was made in 2005. She attributes her success to the support of her mother, father, and sister, Emily, who have instilled in her great values and have always supported her initiative. |
