| Introduction | I had the best childhood ever. I grew up on Long Island and had many care free days searching the beaches for pretty rocks, beach glass and shells while I was supposed to be taking swimming lesson. My mom was a former elementary school teacher and frequent fun was to get out the old coffee can full of modeling clay. We had so many colors mixed together, our blend was a dingy brownish gray: it is amazing what a happens with a childlike imagination and an assortment of nut picks, acorns, twigs, pebbles, bottle caps, twist ties, bakery string, shells, coins, marbles and sewing notions (including straight pins) along with a few plastic army men thrown in for good measure. I learned about Polymer Clay through a book I bought for my kids; Incredible Clay book by Klutz. After watching PC projects on Thats Cleaver and Crafters Coast to Coast, I expanded my interest. On the internet I found Polymer Clay Central and a PC guild in my area that had not been met in over a year. I jump right in to get the group meeting again. I knew PC was IT for me, I could feel it in my blood. In my "Day Job" I am a Rehabilitation Counselor for the US Department of Veteran Affairs. |
