About me

Location The Heartland of America
Introduction In January 2006, I was living the life I had always dreamed of. My husband and I had been married for 22 years and were the parents of two children -- one in college and the other a sophomore in high school. I had a job that had, until that school year, been really wonderful, and I had hopes that with time it would be wonderful again. In Spring 2006, things began changing, and not in a positive way. First, I lost my job. My husband and I had just sold our house and bought 45 acres in the country. For 8 months, we lived in a camper while my husband's cousin and my husband built the shell of our new home; from November 2006 until summer 2009, my husband (with some help from me) did all the finish work on the new house. Then in July 2009, my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer; he passed away 43 days later. In the 25 months since his passing, I have sold one house, moved to a new city, started a new job, and bought another house. So here I am, with a life I barely recognize as my own.
