| Introduction | WHN/BC was originally inspired by the enthusiastic spirit of the 1994 conference, "BC and Beyond: Gender Histories," held in Victoria, B.C. Academics and community women volunteered to set up a provincial gender history network, and WHN/BC's first annual conference was held in Abbotsford the next year. WHN/BC holds a conference each year, and supports the initiatives of members and others interested in promoting women's history. WHN/BC is now a provincially registered non-profit society, (incorporated in 1996), and is an associate member of the B.C. Historical Federation. Membership is just $25 per year. |
