Introduction I was born and live in Trinidad. I studied Sculpture at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee Scotland. For the past 15 years I have been working in wire, making both smaller craft pieces and larger body related sculptures. Thematically, my artwork is influenced by Trinidad Carnival, costume, fashion, feminism and folklore. My work is influenced by the Trinidad Carnival in regards to the technique as well. Here in Trinidad we have a tradition of Wire Bending, a folk craft that was used to make the elaborate, large scaled costumes for our annual Carnival. My work differs from traditional wirebending in that I do not consider the wire to be merely an armature to be covered. I am interested in these 3 D wire forms as 3D drawings in space.
