| Introduction | Hello. My name is Eric Spear, but my friends mostly call me Spear. This blog is dedicated to my love of pickles/pickling and my adventures as I try to share them with the world. I inherited my love for pickling from my grandmother and mother who were both Polish farmers turned prisoners of WWII and now American citizens. My passion for pickles began when I was very young. While teething as a baby, my mother would give my brothers and I whole "3 day" pickles (my Grandmother's old fashioned recipe from the "old world") to ease our aching gums. And throughout my life there was never a moment when we DIDN'T have a jar of homemade pickles in the fridge. I have since moved to New York City carried on my family tradition, but altered the recipe and took the pickles in a new direction (mostly because I can't even dare try to replicate what she's spent a lifetime creating)... And after years of tweaking and perfecting they're ready for all to enjoy! SPEAR'S SPEARS: A New Dill for a New Generation!! |
