Introduction | I was born on 29 February 1960. Not kidding. My birthdate, however, will not be accepted by that "Birthday" box. In 2007, I was commissioned to write a book, "Gritty Nithi: The Remarkable Life of Nithiah Nandan - Comrade & Champion". In 2008, the Ministry of Education placed it in the reference libraries of all secondary schools, junior colleges, polytechnics and universities as recommended reading for National Education. In 2009, Temasek Holdings commissioned a Second Edition which was also translated into Malay, Tamil, Mandarin and Behasa Indonesia. Beyond trade unionism, the book is about family, friendship and sacrifice. Go read it. |
Interests | I enjoy watching sports. I frequently support underdogs. I love watching my son Andreas play rugby and my daughter Michaela and nephew Gabriel bowl. Even at training. |
Favorite Movies | I'm not a movie person. But I acted in one, Hongkong Cinema City's "Mismatched Couples", in 1984. My co-stars were Donny Yen (Heroes) and May Lo (Happy Ghost series; she's Jackie Chueng's wife, by the way). The movie was directed by Yuen He Ping, who made Jackie Chan famous, and who cheorographed those exciting moves in Matrix. |
Favorite Music | How about artistes? Josh Groban... Rod Stewart... Nat King Cole... Johnny Mathis... Sally Yeh... Sam Hui... George Lam... I support the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. |
Favorite Books | Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" and "Persuasion". I also enjoy books by Thomas Mann, Paul Theroux and - would you believe? - Qiong Yau. |
