Introduction I was born on 29 February 1960. Not kidding. My birthdate, however, will not be accepted by that "Birthday" box. In 2007, I was commissioned to write a book, "Gritty Nithi: The Remarkable Life of Nithiah Nandan - Comrade & Champion". In 2008, the Ministry of Education placed it in the reference libraries of all secondary schools, junior colleges, polytechnics and universities as recommended reading for National Education. In 2009, Temasek Holdings commissioned a Second Edition which was also translated into Malay, Tamil, Mandarin and Behasa Indonesia. Beyond trade unionism, the book is about family, friendship and sacrifice. Go read it.
Interests I enjoy watching sports. I frequently support underdogs. I love watching my son Andreas play rugby and my daughter Michaela and nephew Gabriel bowl. Even at training.
Favorite Movies I'm not a movie person. But I acted in one, Hongkong Cinema City's "Mismatched Couples", in 1984. My co-stars were Donny Yen (Heroes) and May Lo (Happy Ghost series; she's Jackie Chueng's wife, by the way). The movie was directed by Yuen He Ping, who made Jackie Chan famous, and who cheorographed those exciting moves in Matrix.
Favorite Music How about artistes? Josh Groban... Rod Stewart... Nat King Cole... Johnny Mathis... Sally Yeh... Sam Hui... George Lam... I support the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.
Favorite Books Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" and "Persuasion". I also enjoy books by Thomas Mann, Paul Theroux and - would you believe? - Qiong Yau.
