| Introduction | This blog is an electronic lab notebook, documenting and sharing the successes, trials, and tribulations of my undergraduate research experience. RESEARCH: I'm studying the adaptation of D. melanogaster and D. simulan to temperate climates byinvestigating genetic loci that are known to vary latitudinally along seasonal and elevational transects in Northern California. To do this, I'm collecting wild fruit fly from the Sierra Foothills and the Central Valley throughout the year with the end goal of quantifying their natural history traits to address a larger question of how these flies are genetically adapting to local climate change. FELICIA KING Felicia is a Junior at Stanford University, studying Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Although her interests are still in a formative stage, she enjoys thinking about molecular evolution and am becoming increasingly interested in looking at this process as a complex systems. |
