| Introduction | As a blogger from before there were blogs, I've concluded what I write is of little interest to the reading public. My current approach is to treat these blogs as notes, with the maturity indicated by the version number. If reader comments show interest, I will probably add some flesh to the skeletons... |
| Interests | reading, computers, walking, Japan, history, sociology, philosophy, computer science, mathematics, psychology, Tokyo, solutions |
| Favorite movies | Don't much like movies, though I've seen many of them over the years. |
| Favorite music | Not really, though I listen to a lot of baroque these years. |
| Favorite books | Many books I could list, but this is obviously a stupid box, insofar as the name of the first book that came to mind includes two commas, which would cause it be divided into 3 books (just as this comment has been divided into two books). |
If mud is dirt plus water, what is clay?
As I fuzzily understand it, there are small particles with high viscosity between the dirt particles in clay. The water is trapped in a way that prevents or limits evaporation. Or is this a case where "sublimation" is the escape mechanism that has to be limited to keep the clay from drying out?
