| Introduction | Much of my identity for the past two decades has been being a "mom." My journey of rediscovering who I am has been interesting. The last few years have been years of pain, joy and dramatic change. My marriage of 26 years was shattered when I discovered my children's father was living a secret gay life. I got divorced. Shortly thereafter, my mother died. I began a new and healthy relationship with a (straight) fantastic man. I had to sell my home of 15 years and move. Then I lost my job -- which I loved. While I was re-employed in less than six months, my former boss, who was also a mentor, died earlier this year. And now, I'm a newlywed! And both of my kids -- now in their mid-20s -- have boomeranged back home. As a Christ-follower, I believe that there is a purpose to all this brokenness and pain, as well as to the joy. I hope that my ponderings about recovery of sanity and self might be useful to someone who stumbles upon this blog. |
