| Introduction | We are sisters, Linda & Becky, and we have lived most of our lives in Iowa. As our families have grown and we have become empty nesters, we have begun to contemplate what we want to be when we grow up. A common love of antiques....well, anything old with history really, and a desire to work hard to obtain our dream. We are both in our 50's and love a challenge. Are we afraid of dirt, dust, mold, animal poo, cobwebs, bugs, vermin, weeds, mud, cold, heat, rain, snow, sleet, water, lightning, wind, digging, climbing, hiking, hard work, driving great distances, long hours and our husbands' confounded looks and shaking heads? Heck no! Sissies we are NOT! We are working toward opening our own antique market in a beautiful old bank building in a small town in Iowa.....Prairie City. We both hate to see wonderful old items relegated to landfills and so our work continues. We hope to have this up and running by Summer, 2012. |
| Interests | Linda - Collecting antiques - teddy bears, early children's toys, primitive/shabby furniture, old fabric, early children's and doll clothing for teddy bears. I am a teddy bear artist. I design and create traditional mohair jointed collectible teddy bears. I have a love for animals and their welfare. Becky - My passion is restoring my 1909 house and my 1882 bank building to their original condition. I enjoy researching on the internet and cultivating contacts to find pieces to use in my projects, restore or recycle. I like saving and refinishing old furniture pieces, and collecting time-worn quilts, weathervane arrows, stained glass windows, and odd or quirky objects, especially for use in the garden. |
