| Introduction | I grew up in small-town Utah in the little, predominantly Latter-Day Saint community of Riverdale during the years immediately following World War II. My parents’ marriage began as the war broke out, but I was the fourth son of the five to come to this family, so I was largely ignorant of the effects of the war on my family until I grew older. My one and only sister was added at the end, making us a family of eight. I experienced the assassination of President Kennedy, the Vietnam war, the civil rights movement, the fears of overpopulation, fears of pollution, the rise of drug addictions, the first moon landing and much more before I reached maturity. My story is of an era now past into history. I will share it from the pages of my journal which I have kept faithfully for over forty years. |
