About me

Location Auckland, New Zealand
Introduction Kate Smallman is Project Manager for Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa and been with them for more than 20 years, she is also a Nurse Practitioner and has been passionate about helping people with diabetes for over 30 years. She went from saying she “couldn’t run” to completing her first marathon and half ironman in 2010, signed up for the first full Ironman in 2012 and is still going. Kate believes that if you set the goal you can achieve wonderful things. Karen Pickering has been the General Manager of Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa since 2000 and doesn’t see herself as a typical athlete, but now in late 50’s with a busy life, a regular schedule of long distance events is her lifeline. She would encourage others to “give it a go, start small and have fun”. Neither Kate nor Karen could do what they do without the support of their families, their friends, and the team and Board of the Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa. Disclaimer: "This is a personal webpage.
