| Introduction | Triathlon has never been something I thought I would or could ever do, but when the Hyvee Triathlon came to town, how could you not catch the bug. Up to this point, I had never run farther than 1 mile, I only have mountain biked, and could not swim. In 8 weeks, I was transformed into a triathlete and completed my first race in August of 2007. The next year I loaded up my calender with every race I could get my hands on and gained lots of experience and knowledge and the need to keep pushing myself further and harder. I signed up for IMKY after my first half iron distance race in August of 2008. 2009 I trained and trained. Completed a 70.3 in June and demolished my PR which got me super excited for IMKY. In August of 2009, just 2 short years and 1 week after my triathlon, I am an IRONMAN. I now figuring out my triathlon future and the direction I want to take it. I love the 140.6 distance, but the time and money it takes is something less desired. I plan on settling on the 70.3 distance and hope to qualify for the Age Group Championships some day. The ultimate goal would be to qualify and race in Kona. |
