About me

Gender Female
Location South Jordan, Utah
Introduction I've been an Army brat my entire life and grew up moving every couple of years (4 different high schools in four years!!) After a couple of years of college I decided to enlist in the Air Force (where did THAT come from?!) and got stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL (tough job, but someone had to do it...) After a few years of driving a forklift for a living (seriously!), I went to the U of Tampa on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. After graduating I spent almost four years stationed in TX, then got moved here to beautiful Utah. It was time to make the big jump and I left the Air Force (only to join the UT Army National Guard--I blame THAT idea on my husband!) I'm hoping to finish Physician Assistant school in the next 4 years so that Bruce can eventually be a stay at home dad to our cat. I like to say that I've taken the scenic route in life, and so far I'm a lucky and blessed woman. I have a family that loves me and an amazing new husband who tells me how wonderful I am everyday. Lord knows how hard I can be to put up with, but he does (AND he's smart enough not to mention how hard I am to put up with!) I have friends that I adore and I have more blessings than I truly deserve.
Interests I fully intend to learn to speak Korean and Spanish...I still haven't gotten over my fear of swimming, but I did learn to scuba dive which is fabulous because my husband is an instructor--while I'll never have the same passion for diving that he does, I love sharing such a fantastic experience with him...I plan to learn to play the piano and master "Moonlight Sonata" (okay, maybe not master it, but at least muddle through)...I have a list of "Things To Do in My Lifetime" that I'm slowly chipping away at...I hate small talk, yet I can ramble on about nothing for a good long while...I cry during every episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"...I'm addicted to magazines, shoes, and handbags (it's a problem)...I put hot sauce on EVERYTHING...I'm big on lists--I love the satisfaction that comes from seeing everything checked off at the end of the day (which doesn't happen nearly as often as I'd like!)...I love working out, especially running...I'm hooked on marathons/half marathons, and I'm contemplating duathlons and triathlons--just have to get over that damn swimming phobia...family is everything to me...I'm a big fan of yoga, hiking, spinning, snorkeling, traveling, salsa dancing, freshly ground coffee, back rubs, crochet, hanging out with the girls, cocktails, the beach, embroidery, naps, reading the Sunday papers in my pajamas with a good cup of coffee, amusement parks, volunteer work, NPR, road trips, quotes, tea time, Story People, dancing, shopping, ballet, theatre, poetry, rollercoasters, reading, cooking, FOOD!, writing, photography, good wine, witty banter, music...

Favorite Music My all time favorite album EVER is Sade's "Lover's Rock"...I think Amy and Dom were ready to throw that CD out the window every time they got in my car in our college days! :-) I actually had to go out and buy a second copy because I wore out my first... Other than that, my taste in music runs the gamut and I like a little bit of everything...Sade, Jonny Lang, BB King, Eric Clapton, Kem, Third Day, Josh Groban, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Beethoven, Jimmy Buffett, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Verdi, Jimi Hendrix, Norah Jones, Kanye West, Diana Krall, Sting, U2, Maroon 5, Andrea Bocelli, Ying Yang Twins, Sheryl Crow, BEP, No Doubt, Rachael Yamagata, Coldplay, Wyclef, Joss Stone, Sarah McLachlan, Maria Callas, Alicia Keys, Lizz Wright, Shirley Horn, Mos Def, Bob Marley, Lifehouse, Shakira, Goapele, Ben Harper, Common, Nina Simone, Etta James, John Legend, Natalie Merchant, Keith Urban, The White Stripes, N.E.R.D., Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker, Rebecca St James, Sonic Flood...the list goes on...
