| Introduction | My full name is Josephine and I was born in Barbados in the West Indies in 2005. I don’t think I had a proper home and I had to fend for myself. Then one day, when I was about six months old, someone attacked me with a machete and inflicted a very nasty wound on my flank. Fortunately for me, I was found and taken to Laura Heath who works for the Hope animal sanctuary [HOPE FOR ANIMALS] and she saved my life. Once I was better, Laura took care of me at her home, along with several other puppies she had saved. But there were always more puppies who needed Laura’s help and she needed to find me a permanent new home. And, as luck would have it, in October of 2006 a couple called Sara and Paul, who were on holiday in Barbados, came to Laura’s home for drinks and met me–and they fell in love! (Well, what’s not to love?) They decided to adopt me. The only problem was, Sara and Paul live in France, which is a very long way away from Barbados. And arranging my journey, via Miami, was a bureaucratic nightmare, apparently. Anyway, eventually, in January of 2007, I finally made it to France to begin my new life. |
