| Introduction | Welcome to The World Is More Than I Know, a blog designed as means to try and begin to answer the elaborate, multiplex, and multifaceted global questions which arise in both my Global Scholars seminar and outside of the classroom. ///// Helen D. is a student in the greater Los Angeles area. She has always been confounded by the world around her. Her Global Citizenship seminar aims to "help students understand their role as global citizens and leaders in an increasingly interconnected world," and Helen is excited to begin to cultivate a more robust, universal, and inclusive awareness of this here globe! Further information about Global Citizenship Seminar: "The course will explore the historical roots of today's global issues, and the political, economic, ecological, and cultural dimensions of globalization today. Topics will include the following: cultural identity and awareness, poverty, global climate change, human-environment interaction, human rights and social justice, origin of and role of the United Nations, roots of political conflict, geopolitics, global economic inter-dependencies, resource allocation, and the geography of resource utilization." |
