Introduction I produce functional ceramic ware to enhance daily living and gatherings with friends and family. My work is meant to invite touch, use and contemplation; and to add a bit of humour to life. My recent work is inspired by tableware that was produced in some of Canada historic potteries for use in diners and homes. Luscious, fatty, chunky, generous tableware; meant to serve warm, comforting, straightforward food. My work is also influenced by my wilderness travels throughout Canada. These trips have produced an interest in natural processes and materials. As a result, my work is often about the methods used to form the work, as well as the raw materials themselves. Process marks are intentionally left as a way to further communicate with users and to explore the materials themselves. I received a BFA and an MES (environmental studies) from York University. In 2006, I followed my passion and returned to school to study ceramics full-time. In 2009 I completed an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics through Sheridan College’s Crafts and Design program. I was an artist in residence at Harbourfront Centre from 2009-2012 and spent two summers apprenticing with a highly successful studio potter.
