| Introduction | I am 50 years old, was born in England and have lived in Israel for the last 30 years. In 2008 my partner Oren and I left to sail round the world on Chasamba, our yacht. In 2012,on a visit home, I was diagnosed with stage 3b Rectal Cancer.I had pre-adjuvant radiotherapy and chemo, an operation to remove the tumour and was treated with Xelox for six months. I had a temporary ileostomy which I had reversed in February 2014. I then had complications resulting in peritonitis, an emergency right hemicolectomy and three blood transfusions. I was also diagnosed as allergic to most major antibiotic groups after having a serious allergic reaction during surgery. Oh, and I'm still standing, by the way. |
