| Introduction | NORMAN (OTIS) RICHMOND is the producer and host of three shows on CKLN-FM 88.1. Richmond can be heard on Saturday Morning Live, 10am-1pm, Diasporic Music, Thursday's 8pm-10pm, and From a Different Perspective, Sunday's 6pm-6:30pm. He began his radio career at Radio Varsity (now CIUT-FM 89.5). He quickly moved to CHIN, CFNY, CBC and CKLN. In 1992 when the Toronto Blue Jays won their first World Series, Richmond was the recipient of the Toronto Arts Award. Karen Kane, Austin Clarke and Bruce Cockburn were also winners that year. In front of an audience that included the Mayor of Toronto June Rowlands and Jean Augustine, Richmond dedicated his award to Mumia Abu-Jamal, Assata Shakur, Geronimo Pratt, the African National Congress of South Africa, and Fidel Castro and the people of Cuba. |
