Introduction | I acquired my appreciation for the wealth and beauty Mother Nature has to offer, at a young age. Growing up, my family spent every summer in a simple cottage without electricity and running water on a small island, and designated nature reserve, off the coast of Stockholm, Sweden. My love for the ocean and my insatiable thirst for travel, combined with a very unique opportunity sent me travelling at age nineteen. With a plan of sailing to the Caribbean and back in one year, I waved Stockholm goodbye in June 1991 from the deck of a 44’ sloop. I never returned. My style of travelling is, and always was, mostly governed by simple economics: the less money I spend, the longer I can stay, which also agrees with my love for simplicity. I hold a B.S. in Tourism and Travel, with a minor in Meeting Planning and Conventions and am involved professionally in promoting International Education and EcoTourism on a local and international scale, a journey that begun in 1996 when I helped the International Society of Tropical Foresters (ISTF) at Yale University organize their annual Conference: the Ecotourism Equation: Measuring the Impacts. |
