| Introduction | I live in southwestern Indiana with my wife, Patti. We are the parents of three great children and have 4 tremendous grandkids! For many years, we lived on about 40 acres in the rugged hills of Martin County. There, we raised grass-fed beef cattle, tended a large garden, a small orchard and had a home greenhouse, honeybees and a large woodpile. We currently live in neighboring Daviess County where I work, garden and continue to write about homesteading and other topics. I am nearing 65 years old and was an Indiana Conservation Officer for over 37 years. I’m a licensed General Class Amateur Radio Operator (Formerly KB9STE, now W9ROX) and I enjoy making homemade wine, wildcrafting, shooting, hunting, and trapping. I’m a frequent contributor to Backwoods Home Magazine and have also written for Fur-fish-Game, Indiana Conservation Afield, Outdoor Indiana, Good Old Days, Back Home, and other publications. My books include The Self-Reliant Homestead. I retired in June 2013 and am currently enjoying working on our off-the-grid cabin, orchard, and garden over on our old place. Thanks for visiting! |
