Introduction	JBM served with the Imperial Armies during the Thirty Years War. Rising to the rank of Kolonel of Kuirassiers whilst serving under Albrecht von Wallenstein, JBM fought in the Battles of Wolgast, the Alte Veste, and Lutzen. After the assassination of von Wallenstein, JBM grew dissatisfied with the state of the Empire, and retired to his estate in Willowdale, where he tried his hand at writing tales of the marvellous.
