| Introduction | I am a stay-home mom of 2 children and wife of 14 years to my husband. I graduated from college 16 years ago with a BS in Economics and worked for 6 years until our daughter was born. I have been a stay-home for the past 9 1/2 years. At the age of 18 I placed my baby daughter for adoption in a closed adoption. In April 2008 (she was 19) we reunited. We now see each other and talk on a regular basis. A dream come true! My husband and I experienced infertility & 2 unsuccessful in-vitro attempts over the course of 4 years. We adopted our newborn daughter in 2002 and our newborn son in 2007. When my son was 6 months old, I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder although I now know I have been dealing with it for the past 20 years. I have been on Lamictal since I was diagnosed and several other medications have been added and omitted as needed. For now, Lamictal on its own is working well. In August 2012 I decided to start the process to apply to Graduate School to obtain my Master's in Economics. Hence, the birth of this blog. I'd like to journal this process from start to finish from the viewpoint of someone living with Bipolar disorder. |
