Introduction	Baggage isn't just stuff that slows me down. Baggage is what I choose to carry with me because it's essential. Because it's mine. I am the mother of an amazing 2 year old daughter, a wife of 12+ years, a returning student finishing my degree in molecular biology, a cancer survivor, amateur photo hound and a slow, fat runner, biker and swimmer. This blog is where I keep track of my journey back from cancer surgery to the active life I choose to live. In July 2008, I had a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and hysterectomy to treat uterine cancer. I was 34, and lucky to have the cancer detected before it spread. In September 2008, I started back to school as a full time undergraduate. December 2008 marked my first return visit to my oncologist. She says everything looks great and I'm good to run again.
