| Introduction | The PIGA PICHA project is a means of cross cultural connection, communication and learning. PIGA PICHA means "take a picture" in Swahili. Our vision starts with a group of 5 Canadian youth teaching photography to 15 orphans living with HIV/ AIDS in Kisumu Kenya. We will be there over the month of July. We wish to empower the orphans as participants with a clear voice in a local and international dialogue about the needs and wants of children living with HIV/ AIDS in continental Africa. Their photographs will raise awareness through exhibitions, print sales, books, and other income generating projects which will in turn provide the orphanage with the finances it needs to care for the children.
