| Introduction | I was born in the Dominican Republic; at the age of 11 my father brought me to the United States. In this new environment my life was forced into a drastic change. It was very hard for me at first; I had to get accustomed to the weather, new friends, new language etc… Learning English was not easy especially while I was being mocked for bad pronunciation. At the age of sixteen I had my first child, it’s a girl! Yet with hard work, dedication & God, I was able to graduate from High School. I am now a happily married mother of 2 boys and a girl. I’ve worked in clothing stores, bartending, housekeeping, clerical jobs; I currently work full time as a secretary. |
