Introduction	In preparation for the 2009 Canada Summer Games, each province and territory selected three accomplished, emerging artists in various disciplines to participate in the National Artist Program for two weeks. The artists participated in professional development workshops, worked collaboratively, and performed and presented their work to public audiences and the athletes competing at the Games - culminating in a major multidisciplinary performance piece for the Games Closing Ceremonies expressing the need for immediate and continuing action in our communities to create positive change and a sustainable future. The founders of One Trunk Collective were seen as strong leaders, collaborators and creators in their own disciplines. They aim to continue to collectively create pieces that showcase important issues using a variety of artistic disciplines i.e. movement, theatre, music, visual arts. One Trunk believes that using various disciplines allows for an examination of topics from multiple perspectives and creates a work of art that may be accessible to a larger audience. One Trunk is focused on an interdisciplinary arts practice in order to expand each artist’s expressive capabilities.
