| Introduction | When I was 15 my father asked me what I wanted to do in life? After a moments thought my response was, "I really don't know yet but I want to work with my hands". How prophetic! Although I studied marine biology in college and had aspirations while in college to end up succeeding Jaques Cousteau as the premier underwater explorer I eventually fell into a summer vacation job with a friend who owned a tile shop. I was just finishing up my first year of teaching high school and he needed a helper and I needed a few dollars to last me through till my next paycheck in the fall. Well wouldn't you know that summer would turn into a 30 year period of working with my hands. I don't regret missing out on my high sea adventures or leaving the classroom for a lifetime of challenges and creative works that have brought others great happiness and myself personal satisfaction. By the way I have maintained my love for the ocean by becoming a PADI certified master scuba diver and I dive whenever possible. |
