Introduction My first taste of sea angling came when I was probably about 4. I remember accompanying my Dad on numerous trips to Newquay's Flycellars, before eventually making it over to the headland when I was more capable of climbing rocks by myself! My first rod was a white fibreglass boat rod with a rusty screw down reel seat. In those days even a 6 year old could cast far enough with a 7' boat rod to bring in 3 mackerel at a time. How things have changed...

By 12 (after watching far too much John Wilson) I took myself off to a local coarse fishing lake. A new love and a slight change of direction was found. By 13 I'd won my first match. 2 years later, I was the junior and senior champion of Roche Angling Club. 10 years after that I was Southern Angler's Match Angler of The Year and had done loads in between.

Now I've gone full circle. I love living by the sea, and most of my joy in life comes from it. Whether that's sunny days in it, drunken nights by it, or the many hours I spend looking in it for fish of all sizes. I’m incomplete without it. This blog is supposed to be about work..... but that's way too boring!
