Introduction I believe that we each create our own reality and experiences and my goal is to share mine through my work. Each assemblage is an attempt to stretch awareness, to stir psyche, even though my work may be perceived differently by the viewer. My intent is to take the viewer to heights of happiness or deep within as they discover something pleasant or symbolic within each piece. My muse is the director who takes both me and the viewer on a wondrous journey. "My finger prints do not end at the tip of my fingers. They reach out throughout our world and leave their mark on everything and everyone I touch." Sallyann Mettler
Interests I am truly devoted to mixed media art and create art every day, assemblage, collage, journaling, encaustic, glasswork, altered art and much more. Art is not only all encompassing part of my life but also works in my life as a therapy, as long as I’m creating I’m filled with joy, a positive attitude, stress free and magical. My creations have a life and a meaning all their own, as I explore the depths of my heart and soul those feelings work their way into each piece. I am also intrigued with layers and transitions, the rhythms and patterns of life. I love the way my muse takes me on an expedition during the entire process of creating a piece that includes a variety of mediums that I'm passionate about; it's akin to a dance and I trust it. During the process I enter a place of surrender where I work intuitively to create movement, color, harmony and joy. I am usually unaware of how many hours I spend in the studio and am surprised when the sun sets. Each stage of my artistic journey has been filled with discovery.... about me, life, people and the world around me. The layers of my work include mediums and collections that I'm surrounded with in my studio: transfers, photographs, encaustic, found objects and other embellishments. Color speaks to my soul and is the foundation of each piece no matter what medium I’m working on. A theme appears like magic while I'm working; I never pre-plan my work. Over time I've discovered the importance of viewing each piece under different lighting conditions in order to find the right perspective and further understand how the piece might be experienced. When the piece is finished I'm in awe!
