| Introduction | I am a registered professional planner specializing in First Nations community development, land use planning, recreation and tourism. I earned my degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Northern BC where I discovered my love for mountain biking. Immediately following graduation I left Canada and spent the next three years travelling and working in Asia as an English teacher and as a volunteer for CUSO Canada in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. It was this experience, working with indigenous communities in the highlands near the border of China that I discovered my passion for indigenous land rights and sustainable development. Since returning to Canada, I have worked with First Nation communities throughout western Canada in community planning, economic development and tourism. In 2012 I was part of creating the Aboriginal Youth Mountain Bike program. I am an avid and passionate mountain biker and strongly believe that mountain biking can be a means for bringing communities together. |
