Introduction	I've been a professor of history at Roger Williams University since 1969, growing with the institution which just that year opened its campus in Bristol, RI. I'm the husband of Penney and the father of Daniel, Jeremy and Sam. This blog is an experiment. For the past decade or more I've been sending out weekly letters to about 300 friends and relatives (not a mutually exclusive categorization). It's been suggested that I blog these as well, and susceptible to suggestion have taken the plunge. I also write a column for the local Jewish newspaper. In a moment I'll post the first one, by which I introduced myself to the readers, an introduction that will serve this blog as well. Welcome to my world.
