| Introduction | Most of my time is spent on the coast, ranging from about Big Sur, California to central Oregon, but my primary focus is on Bodega Head, including Sonoma Coast State Park (Bodega Head, Bodega Dunes, Salmon Creek Beach), Bodega Marine Reserve (I’m an employee), Bodega Harbor, and Doran Beach. I sometimes drift to the south (Dillon Beach, Tomales Bay, Point Reyes, Duxbury Reef) or to the north (Fort Ross, Salt Point, Sea Ranch).
For the last 20 years I’ve worked for the University of California. Before that I was fortunate to work with the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, The Nature Conservancy (Oregon), and the Massachusetts Audubon Society (Cape Cod). I grew up in Humarock/Scituate, MA (south of Boston). My naturalist leanings are thanks to my family (mom/gardener/outdoor enthusiast, dad/lobsterman, husband/marine ecologist, extended family members), field courses and instructors in college — especially at Shoals Marine Lab (ME/NH), Friday Harbor Labs (WA), UC Santa Cruz (CA), University of New Hampshire — natural historians and artists, and many encouraging and enthusiastic colleagues and friends! Thanks, everyone! |
