| Introduction | I'm a proud Single Mom, Poet, Screenwriter and Filmmaker/Director, Producer and Educator. I was born in New York City and lived in Haiti for five years and Spain for almost 10. My father is of Russian- German-Serbian descent and my mother is Spanish-Philippine and Indian. I studied film with Abigail Child and Spanish Literature with Eduardo Lago at Sarah Lawrence College. I have lived now in LA for eight years, I also lived a year in Russia where I acted in a movie that received a special nomination at Cannes in 97 called "Brother" by director Alexei Balabanov. I do speak some rusty Russian. I have directed a short film called Behind Closed Doors that is on Youtube and my website: www.nadiafilms.com, I also did a documentary on Esperanza Community Housing Corp and have done several pro-bono PSA for CHIRLA.
