About me

Location Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, United States
Introduction I am a retired college writing professor, having taught Comp I and II at Century College and North Hennepin Community College in the Twin Cities. I became fascinated with classical rhetorical theory and practice when I was in grad school at St. Cloud State University. I found that it was much easier for students to use classical forms to frame their arguments than merely spew facts. The classical forms, which I document in my textbooks, are still in widespread use today. They provide inherent structure that makes writing easier. They also provide variety, which gives you the writer a number of approaches to the mind and heart of your reader. If one way doesn't work, perhaps one or two others will.
