IntroductionI grew up in the small northwest Iowa town of Granville (population, 300). Since earning my Ph.D. in English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I have been a professor for thirty years.
InterestsI have authored and edited several books, and I publish in the fields of autobiography, memoir, Midwestern American history, women’s studies, and immigration history. For more than twenty-five years, I have been doing research on Luxembourg's history, its religious and cultural traditions, and its patterns of immigration to sites in the United States.
