| Introduction | I am 19 years old and currently studying Politics and Business at East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston. I have grown-up in and around Great Yarmouth, with having a link with the ward through the family run business, the Furzedown Hotel, which has been in the family for 49 years. The hotel is currently run by my grandmother and uncle, Paul Garrod, who is the current Mayor of the town. As well as politics, my other passion in life is the Caister Lifeboat, where I have served as a member and fundraising committee member for about 5 years. I play an active role in community life, despite having been born with Cerebral Palsy, which I believe has given me an ability to relate to a broad spectrum of people. Why do I want to become a councillor? Well, through my studies and outlook on life, I would like to encourage more young people of my age to step into the local political arena, as well as help through using the powers of the council, and more importantly, the views of my constituents, please help me keep the Great in Great Yarmouth. |
