| Introduction | Company Gabrielle Moleta was founded in 2009 to create theatre that is based on the physical truth of the actor. Gabrielle has been working in the field of Animal Transformation as an acting training tool for the past ten years.The detailed, painstaking work, drawn from real-life observation of animals and birds, informs much of the work she does. The work descends from French master Jacques Copeau and was brought to the UK by Michel St Denis, and further developed by John and Catherine Blatchley. Gabrielle received an Arts Council Grant in 2004 to apprentice herself to Catherine Clouzot. In June 2009, with further assistance from the Arts Council, Gabrielle collaborated with Fay Simpson to create a piece of theatre called The Outsiders. It is a physical story of survival, absorbing and moving which tells the story of a girl,a tight village community, a wounded deer and a stranger. the text is sparse, the movement is sometimes stylised,sometimes choreographed as four actors move between the animals, the humans -and the animals within the humans- that make up this community in crisis. |
