Occupation Sociologist
Location Glasgow, Scotland
Introduction A former 'sad boy' (define as you see fit) who has grown up a wee bit in the last year but he remains, alas, a 'working sociologist'. Gainfully employed by a University on the West coast of Scotland, the once sad boy currently resides in raintown Glasgow and he dies on a daily basis for slow sad songs (though happy indie-pop sounds cause lush smiles to break out every so often). Also adores: The Field Mice, perfectly twee shirts, red wine, c90 mix tapes, red lips, a black tie, rain and shine, green tea, big words, live shows by emerging bands in small venues, not shaving, books, reading blogs, a boy with an Arab Strap, black and white photos, trying to negotiate a run-down fringe and, ultimately, avoiding the truth...
Interests Being happy, Laughing loudly, Bright colours, Smiling, Avoiding the truth, Hearing new music, Fringes, Being a bit of a sad boy, Cooking, Big words that end with an ism or an ist, Green tea, Not shaving, American accents, Writing, Rain and shine, Reading, Talking, Staying up late, Red lips, Rearranging books, a boy with an Arab Strap, Going out, Filing my life away, Drinking cheap red wine with Juliette Lewis, Seattle, Live shows in small venues, Taking very ordinary pictures, Glasgow, Expensive coffee, Teaching, Unpacking teacrates, Being a bit OCD-like, Annoying my small children, Using the Oxford English dictionary more than I really should, Trying to be a good man... Favorite Movies Above all else I appreciate the humour in the work of Greto Garbo. It just hits the spot really. Still mildly obsessed with the work of people like Hal Hartley and Bill Forsyth and Ron Fricke and Kevin Smith.
Favorite Music Couldn't possibly offer a compact and bijou summary but let's just say that The Field Mice (on repeat) is a fair idea of the type of music I adore. Yes it is all about you Sarah...
Favorite Books Too many to mention here but I am currently reading (and enjoying) Pamela Perry's (2002) book 'Shades of White: white kids and racial identities in high school' (Duke Univ Press)

You're trapped in a well with a goat and a slinky. Describe how you will escape.

I will escape using a UB99 Yamaha effects pedal, a deadly shoegaze fringe and 'pure' philosophical reasoning. Oh yes I will. [Oh no I didn't]
