| Introduction | My research specialism is Roman and early Medieval southwest Britain, particularly the archaeology of ethnic, national, and cultural identities, incorporating post-colonial approaches. I am also developing archaeological research into social and cultural identity construction (class and status, community, regional, and national identities, ethnicity, and gender) within early 20th century households in Britain. In addition, I am involved in a collaborative research project analysing the post-trauma role of objects in the later 20th century. One of my tasks is completion of post-excavation research on the Roman and early medieval reoccupation of Crickley Hill, Gloucestershire (http://crickleyhillad.blogspot.com/). I work as a freelance teacher in the continuing education sector (having taught for the WEA, University of Nottingham, Keele University, and currently on the Tutor Panel for Oxford University Department for Continuing Education); I also provide talks for schools, museums, and other educational institutions and heritage organisations (http://www.derventio-archaeology.co.uk/). |
