InterestsAfter performing her first published poem entitled, Best Friend at the age of 8, Eartha Terrell knew that her life would revolve around literature. Inspired by literary greats, such as Langston Hughes and Phllis Wheatley, she has spent more than a decade studying her idols and perfecting her craft. Though her early years focused around poetry, it was during her experience as an undergraduate at The Ohio State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism that she would discover her voice and desire to tell stories. During her collegiate career, Eartha wrote for her school’s newspaper, The Lantern and interviewed numerous people including New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Maya Angelou, author of A Belle in Brooklyn and Don’t Waste Your Pretty, Demetria L. Lucas and 1968 Olympic medalist and Civil Rights Activist, John Carlos. After graduating from college in 2012, Eartha continued to write and tell the untold stories of her generation. She has been published on several online publications, The Vindicator, the Business Journal, the Town Crier, Valley Magazine and the Buckeye Review. She is also the founder of her own personal blog, Birds Eye View, which details her experience growing up in the inner city of Youngstown, Ohio. Eartha continues to watch her life and career unfold and whether it’s reporting or poetry, the communications-maven hopes to evoke societal changes in the world and empower others to do the same.
