| Introduction | I guess the "Book of Lurlene" could best be called my "visual voice". I grew up in a one stop-light town, right near the Carolina line. Tea was sweet unless otherwise requested and Bar-B-Que was a staple. Slaw was made with mayonnaise and biscuits with lard. Socialization skills included evenings on the porch and catchin' up while washin' dishes or stringin' beans. Folks helped folks out and you worked for your allowance. You shared stuff. Life was simple but not uncomplicated, if you understand what I'm sayin. This is a place where I can think back and enjoy the little things that shaped me. |
