| Introduction | I created this blog to encourage each of you to spend 20 minutes a day doing that thing that is your passion - that thing that often times gets pushed aside by other responsibilities. As a new member of the "empty nester club," I realized I had let days, months, even YEARS go by without drawing or painting. Since I started doing my 20 minutes a day of art, I feel much more complete. I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 1984. I then began working at the university as a graphic designer and illustrator. In 1985 I married my hairdresser, and in 1990 I started my own business, Susan Shroy Graphic Design. We moved to Alaska in 1992, and created MetrOasis Beauty School in 1995. I trained under my hairdresser husband and became a licensed hairdresser in 1998. We love to travel, so each year we travel abroad to bring back new techniques to teach our beauty school students, and I seek out new inspiration for my art. |
