| Introduction | The idea of art as a tool for social change drives me to create. I view myself not only as an artist but as a human being and as such wish to make a difference in the world around me. It is through the integration of art and sociological concerns that I feel this is possible. Coming from a very holistic approach to education, I find it hard to separate artifact from context, context from site and site from society. My practice has taken and continues to take many different forms, working through and mixing mediums to find the appropriate way to express the concept at the heart of my thinking. I feel it is my place as an artist to question arts role and function in everything I do. I enjoy making work which creates discourse across demographics, locations and contexts. I am influenced by the work of the Situationists and their interventions in public contexts. My work creates opportunities for ones perception to be ever so slightly shifted. |
