Introduction Maggie is an avid people watcher who knows a lot about a little and a little about a lot. She also has a degree in geology, which means she can giggle with authority at Dante's Peak, but not much else. She is currently a Peace Corps volunteer in southwest Morocco.

Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?

When we handle coins, our sweat begins breaking them down, releasing ions that behave like partially oxidized rust. These ions then break down oils on the skin, which in turn form the compounds that give coins their distinctive aroma. These same compounds form when you rub blood on your skin, hence the sensory connection between blood and money! There is no reason for me to know that.
