| Introduction | I kind of want people to say, "Who's this dumbass Elrond Hubbard?" But the problem with that is, people say, "Who's this dumbass Elrond Hubbard?" |
|---|---|
| Interests | writing, ballroom dance, Argentine tango, arnis, Iraq, algae farming, the human heart |
| Favorite music | Adams, Alkan, Beethoven, Chopin, Duran Duran, Van Halen, Elton John, Kelley, De Leon, Liszt, Palmieri, Prokofiev, Mahler, Shostakovich, Richard Strauss, Wagner; salsa, samba, son, Romantic Era orchestral; tons of other stuff. I used to play trombone and piano, but I have given these up except for occasionally figuring out an Elton John song on the piano. My favorite to play is "Rock Me When He's Gone," which Elton and Bernie wrote and gave away to Rod Stewart. Cheese whiz, I know. And then there's the once every planetary convergence when I do karaoke. After a few unremarkable experiences there, I have finally found a song that works for me: "Nobody Home" by Pink Floyd. |
| Favorite books | Alice Munro, Lorrie Moore, Larry Brown, Allan Gurganus, Bernard Malamud, Grace Paley, many others |
