IntroductionMr. Ismet Kilicarslan is from Tatwan, in Northern Kurdistan. He is an author, translator and expert in Kurdish, Turkish, Persian, Arab and Ottoman. He has translated many books into Kurdish. Kilicarslan trained in traditional Kurdish academies (Medrese). Where teachers were trained priests (seyda-mele) to the mosques for the Kurdish community. They learned the Quran in Kurdish, and had respect for other religions, and ethnic groups. The love for the Kurdish language, and tolerance for other cultures was the foundation of their education. Kurdish academies as well as Kurdish was banned after the formation of the Republic of Turkey. Kilicaslan arrested many times by the Turkish security forces, and was tortured. He was forced to leave the home and move to the city of Izmir. There he was active in cultural and linguistic associations TZP-Kurdi and the “Kurdish Institute in Istanbul”. On 3 August 2006, he died in a traffic accident. This site contains all articles about him published in the media, in different languages.
