| Introduction | As a young man, I grew up in a very conservative and Christian household. This allowed for very little appreciation of radical ideas or politics. My delving into such realms came of my own accord, an attempt to rectify why individuals would follow such ideologies, if they were indeed so horrific in scope and nature. Reading the Communist Manifesto, I was surprised at how "even keeled" it felt. It wrote about events that seemed to be occurring in my world, Globalization, exploitation of labor in various ways, the fact that wealth would be concentrated in fewer and fewer hands over time. And this, all written in the mid 1800's! It was an opening of the eyes for me. I began to delve seriously into radical ideas for a new society without exploitation. Proudhorn, Marx, Engels, Luxembourg, Sartre, Zizek, Bakunin, Lukacs, Gramsci, and, Althusser. They all graced my mind with ideas to muse upon. I now use their foundation as building material for our current project against exploitation and wage slavery. We of the lower classes demand a new society, one that serves our interests and needs. The struggle moves on! |
